RAMUS Australian Mentor of the Year 2005

In 2005 Dr Peter Francis received one of the two awards given in Australia for his role in teaching medical students.

The Rural Australia Medical Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme is part of an Australian Government strategy to increase the number of doctors in rural Australia by financially supporting students with a rural background who undertake the study of Medicine at university. Each of these students has a rural doctor Mentor who supports and guides them through the years of study and maintains their links with the rural community.

Each year nominations are made nationally to recognize the tremendous effort that some Mentors provide in looking after these students and the achievement of this award is another sign of the commitment that Peter and the doctors in this clinic have to training the medical workforce of the future.
