DR PETER FRANCIS
Following his graduation from Monash University Peter worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Royal Women’s Hospital and Royal Park in Melbourne. He then moved with his family to Wodonga and joined one of the existing practices. In 1988 he was part of the group that established Federation Clinic in the rapidly developing West Wodonga area.
Current areas of special interest include pigmented skin lesions, infection control, practice management and the teaching of medical students, GP registrars and the practice staff. Peter has created an environment of learning at Federation Clinic and it has been primarily through his efforts that Federation Clinic has received 2 prestigious national awards. In 2005 Peter’s dedication to medical student teaching was recognised in his award from RAMUS (Rural Australia Medical Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme) as one of 2 Australian Mentors of the Year.
“My wife and I enjoy running our small farm of sheep and alpacas. Over the years I have had much pleasure running and cycling with friends throughout the North East. Holidays with my family are a highlight especially now we have grandchildren to enjoy.” |
